Healthy Eating in Grand Cayman

Finding healthy restaurants while on vacation can often be a challenge. Grand Cayman has many great restaurants but I was searching for great AND healthy. I turned to Happy Cow for help in my search for such a restaurant in the Seven Mile Beach area and found Island Naturals Cafe.  Located just off West Bay Road, it’s nestled in a shopping plaza and offers tasty, healthy meals any time of day.

Finding Island Naturals Cafe

I took the bus to Seven Mile Beach from Cobalt Coast Resort and asked the driver to stop where I thought the cafe was located (thank you Google maps!). The cafe is in a plaza behind Eduardo’s restaurant. Ordering is done at the counter as you walk in the door and the adjacent seating area has a clean, modern feel to it.

Dinner and Award Winning Cheesecake

If you’re a veggie lover you’re definitely going to love the Island Naturals menu! With no additives or preservatives you’re guaranteed a healthy and delicious meal. I chose the black bean and avocado wrap and, for a small charge, opted for the gluten free spinach wrap. I thought the wrap could have used a little extra seasoning but other than that the ingredients were fresh and portion size was plenty to satisfy me for dinner.

Island Naturals’ vegan, gluten free strawberry cheesecake is an award winning dessert, so of course I couldn’t leave without trying it.  Unfortunately, they were sold out of the strawberry so I tried the caramel chocolate chip and it was quite possibly the best cheesecake I’ve ever tasted! That’s coming from someone who isn’t a big fan of cheesecake.

Caramel Chocolate Chip Cheesecake

The texture was super creamy and sweet and the crust was flavorful with just the right amount of crunch.  If you’re looking to indulge, the cheesecake is an absolute must!

Aside from wraps and cheesecake, there are a variety of entree sized salads and bowls on the menu. I’m not gonna lie, I had food envy when I saw the curried sweet potato bowl another customer ordered.  It looked and smelled fantastic!  Smoothies and fresh juices are available any time of day and are a great way to start the morning. Order one to go and take a long early morning walk along Seven Mile Beach.  I was also super excited to see acai bowls on the menu since I have a  small obsession with them and they’re becoming one of my favorite breakfast foods.

Regardless of what you’re in the mood for, Island Naturals is a healthy restaurant that is sure to please, so stop by any time of day when you’re in Seven Mile Beach. The friendly staff will happily answer any questions you have about the menu and might even share the secret cheesecake ingredients.
